Building Community: Why We’re Linking Up With Brighton’s Best Local Builders

There’s something about the sound of a spirit level hitting a workbench or the precise click of a tile slotting into place that resonates with us here at Lost and Found. It’s the sound of craft. It’s the sound of someone giving a toss about the details.

Down here on Ditchling Road, right in the beating heart of Fiveways, we’ve noticed a pattern. The people who spend their days literally building the walls and rafters of Brighton are the same people who appreciate the architecture of a perfectly balanced IPA. You can’t build a solid house on a shaky foundation, and you certainly can’t build a legendary Brighton taproom on boring, corporate lager.

That’s why we’re officially extending a massive, hop-scented olive branch to Brighton’s local builders, sparks, chippies, and tradespeople. We’re linking up because, frankly, we’re two sides of the same independent coin. You build the community with bricks and mortar; we build it with community, conversation, and some of the finest independent beer in Sussex.

Craft Recognises Craft

We aren't a massive chain. We aren't some soulless "concept" bar owned by a hedge fund in London. We are Lost and Found, a fiercely independent Brighton venue that believes in the power of local.

When we look at the local builders working around Fiveways, we see a mirror of what we do. You take raw materials and turn them into something beautiful and functional. We take a curated selection of kegs and cans from Sussex’s best independent brewers and turn them into a curated experience for the neighbourhood.

There’s a shared respect there. We know you’ve had a long day on-site, probably dealing with "interesting" weather and clients who change their minds every five minutes. You deserve better than a pint of fizzy water from a multinational conglomerate. You deserve a craft beer that actually tastes of something.

Lost and Found Taproom Evening

The Perfect After-Work Pivot

You know that feeling when the tools are packed away, the van is locked, and the dust is finally starting to settle? That’s the "Lost and Found Window."

We’ve designed our space to be the ultimate transition from the "doing" to the "being." Whether you’re covered in sawdust or just need to vent about a delayed delivery, our craft beer taproom is the place to do it. We’ve kept the vibe warm, rustic, and unpretentious, much like a well-worn leather tool belt.

We’re not just a place to drink; we’re a place to decompress. The lighting is low, the music is curated, and the atmosphere is built on inclusivity. It’s a spot where you can bring the whole crew for a quick pint before heading home, or stay for a few rounds to celebrate hitting a major project milestone.

Hosting the Trade: Free Venue Hire and 80-Person Capacity

Let’s talk shop. If you’re running a local building firm, you know that team morale is the glue that keeps everything together. But finding a decent spot for a team meeting, a project wrap party, or even a bit of trade networking in Brighton can be a right headache.

That’s where we come in.

We have a capacity of 80 people, making us the perfect size for a proper knees-up without feeling like you’re lost in a warehouse. And here is the kicker: we offer free venue hire for trade events.

Looking to host a "thank you" night for your subcontractors? Want a space to showcase your latest portfolio to potential clients over a few Sussex pales? Or maybe you just want to take over the taproom for a private Christmas bash that doesn’t involve a sad buffet in a hotel basement? We’ve got you covered.

We provide the space, the vibe, and the liquid gold. You just bring the team. It’s our way of supporting the people who keep our city standing.

Sussex Suds: Keeping it Local

You won’t find any big-label, mass-produced "sludge" on our lines. We are the counter-culture to the corporate beer world. Our taps are a rotating celebration of what’s happening right here in our backyard.

We prioritise breweries from Brighton and across Sussex because they’re our neighbours. They’re independent businesses just like us, and just like you. Each sip tells a story of quality and passion. From hazy pales that taste like a summer afternoon to rich stouts that feel like a warm hug, our selection is carefully curated to ensure you’re always discovering something new.

When you drink at Lost and Found, your money stays in the local economy. It goes to the brewer down the road, the delivery driver in the van, and the independent taproom staff who know exactly how to pour your favorite pint. It’s a closed loop of local support, and we think that’s worth raising a glass to.

No Ovens, Just Epic Street Food

Now, we know a hard day’s work works up a massive appetite. While we don't have an on-site kitchen (we leave the cooking to the experts), we’ve got something even better.

Every weekend, we transform our outdoor space into a rotating stage for Brighton’s best street food vans. We’ve had everything from mouth-watering dumplings and bao buns to the legendary sliders from the MOMO van.

It’s the perfect setup. You get the variety of a high-end food market with the comfort of your favourite local local. There’s no greasy spoon vibe here, just high-quality, authentic grub that pairs perfectly with a cold craft beer. Check our socials to see who’s pulling up this weekend; it’s basically a culinary world tour right outside our front door.

Craft Beer Community Gathering

Join the Fiveways Trade Community

We want Lost and Found to be more than just a place on Ditchling Road. We want it to be the unofficial headquarters for Brighton’s independent trades.

If you’re a local builder, electrician, plumber, or landscaper, come in and say hello. Let’s talk about how we can support each other. Maybe you need a regular spot for your "Friday Finish," or perhaps you’re looking for a venue to host a trade-only networking night. Whatever it is, our doors are open.

We’re proud to be part of the Fiveways community, and we’re even prouder to be linking up with the people who are literally shaping the future of our streets.

Like what you’ve heard? Want to book the space for your crew?

Get in touch today to start planning your next team drink or private event. There’s a pint of Sussex’s finest with your name on it, and it tastes a whole lot better than whatever you’ve got in the cooler back at the site.

Support local. Drink independent. Let's build something great together.

See you at the bar,

Jon & The Lost and Found Team
